Powerful Peltier Cooling--Monsoon II Lite

When we reviewed the original Monsoon II thermal electric cooler (aka "Peltier cooler"), we found it offered very effective cooling with a couple of notable drawbacks. First, the 92mm fan was a bit on the noisy side. Second, the control circuitry fit into a 5.25-inch drive bay. That's fine for some, but many users with smaller cases simply want everything to remain fully internal.

Vigor Gaming is responding to these customers with the new Monsoon II Lite. It's fundamentally the same Peltier cooler as the Monsoon II, except with the 5.25-inch drive bay component replaced by a PCI card. It also costs about $50 less. Let's find out if it still offers the same impressive cooling performance, and determine whether anything has been done about the noise levels.

The Monsoon II Lite is a fairly compact Peltier CPU cooling system.
