Test Setup and Procedure
We compared the performance of the Monsoon II with that of the winner of our Horizontal Cooler Showdown, the Thermaltake Sonic Tower. In a previous review of the ASUS P5WDG2-WS motherboard, we discovered that the stock cooler on the hot Pentium 955 Extreme Edition was in dire need of replacement. We used the same test bed to run our cooler experiment.

Processor temperatures were observed at idle and under load using PC Probe II. Four instances of Prime95 running the "small FFT's" torture test was used to load the dual-core Hyper-Threading processor for one hour. Peak temperatures were recorded and plotted in the table below. We performed these tests at the factory BIOS clock settings (3.46 GHz) and overclocked to 4.67 GHz with the core voltage raised to 1.450v. Continued...
